Pleaded with judge not to take licence away

-

A young Coolaney woman with 11 penalty points has pleaded with a judge not to take away her licence.

Rhona Murray ( 27) of Ard Laighne, Coolaney pleaded guilty to driving without insurance at Finisklin Industrial Estate on January 8th 2016.

Murray told Judge Kevin Kilrane that her insurance was out a couple of days and she didn’t realise it.

The mother- of- two said that at the time she was doing a FETAC Pre- Nursing course and had now gone on to study for a full- time degree in nursing at St Angela’s College.

She said she had 11 penalty points currently on her licence, 9 for speeding on one day.

She said she had checked the bus timetables and couldn’t continue her studies without a car to get to college.

Defence solicitor, Mr Tom MacSharry, said Murray had turned her life around and would have to give up her college course if convicted.

Judge Kilrane adjourned the case to December 14th for monitoring.
