-

A man caught drink driving with an alcohol reading of 103mgs/ 100mls has been put off the road for three years.

Seamus Clancy ( 62) of Friars Wood Farm, Ballisodare, was charged with drink driving at Station Road, Ballisodare on November 18th last.

Mr Tom MacSharry, defending, handed in a medical report to Judge Kevin Kilrane at Sligo District Court last week.

He also pointed out that Clancy had no previous convictions: “He’s never been in court before Judge,” he said.

Judge Kilrane said the readin was “extremely high” but said that in mitigation Clancy had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.

He convicted and fined him ¤ 200.

“That does not reflect the seriousness of the charge,” he said but accepted the facts of the medical report and the fact he had no criminal history.

Clancy was automatically disqualified from driving for three years.
