Alleged people trafficker is remanded
A Romanian man accused of people trafficking has had a Book of Evidence served against him.
35- year- old Augustin Covaci of Seaview Drive, Cartron Point, appeared before Judge Kevin Kilrane last week.
He is charged with trafficking Gheorghe Bogdan at a carwash on Pearse Road between May 28 and September 9th 2015.
State Solicitor for Sligo Mr Hugh Sheridan served a Book of Evidence on Covaci.
Judge Kilrane said the charge was “very serious” with a maximum penalty on conviction of 14 years to life imprisonment.
He remanded Covaci on continuing bail to this Thursday’s District Court to provide him with a Romanian interpreter as his English wasn’t fluent.
