Children invited to name new playground

The Children of Tubbercurr­y will get to name their brand new playground in a competitio­n to be held over the coming weeks. The Playground Action Group which has been campaignin­g for a new playground wants to get the kids invovled and is to visit local schools and creches with a colouring compeititi­on and a ‘ name the playground’ competitio­n. Spokeswoma­n Deirdre Curran says: “This campaign has been worth the fight. We received great support. Everyone in the town has been amazing and their is great excitment building now as the work is to begin in mid- march. We should be able to have an official opening in April.”

The state of the art playground is costing in the region of € 100,000. Most of the funding has come under the town and village renewal scheme. The playground will be inclusive and for all levels and even have some wheelchair accessible equipment.
