Damien is Irish Novice champion
SLIGO’S Damien O Boyle recently won the Irish Novice 91Kg title at the National Stadium in Dublin, chalking up a 3- 0 victory over Niall Coady from the St Saviours Crystal Boxing Club in Waterford.
Damien, who trains with the Sean Mc Dermott Boxing Club in Manorhamilton, is a former Sligo intercounty footballer and an active Calry St Joseph` s clubman. O Boyle has made huge strides in his newly adopted Sport, represented NUIG in the national Universities competitions in March of 2016 and winning his first All Ireland boxing title.
Ringside for Damien on the night of the final were highly experienced coaches James Kelly, a former Irish Intermediate boxing champion and Dowra man, James Dowell.
