Sligoman’s key role in home Bill
SLIGOMAN Eugene Deering, a Government Special Advisor played a key role in the launch of a new Bill aimed at keeping people under threat of eviction in their homes.
The Keeping People In Their Homes Bill 2017 provides protection to home owners facing repossession and provides clarity to Irish courts on examining the proportionality of granting or executing repossession orders on people’s homes.
The Bill allows courts to consider the circumstances and impact of home loss on dependents and children in the household, The Bill was introduced to the Dáil by Independent Alliance TD, Deputy Kevin Boxer Moran The Bill was drafted in consultation with leading legal academics and lawyers practising in the area of home repossessions
Independent Alliance Special Adviser Mr Deering played a key role in researching the issues involved and bringing the IA, legal academics and practising lawyers together to advance the project.
