Allegedpeo­ple trafficker­sent forCircuit­trial

A 35- year- old Cartron resident has been sent forward for trial to Sligo Circuit Criminal Court accused of Human Traffickin­g.

State Solicitor for Sligo Mr Hugh Sheridan served a Book of Evidence on Augustin Covaci at the District Court last Thursday.

Speaking through a Romanian interprete­r, Judge Kevin Kilrane gave Covaci an alibi warning. He also made a direction that the Book of Evidence be translated by a Romanian translator and any other documents as required.

Covaci, of Seaview Drive, Cartron Point, is accused of traffickin­g Gheorghe Bogdan at a carwash on Pearse Road between May 28th and September 9th 2015.

Judge Kilrane remanded Covaci on ¤ 500 bail, he must sign on at Sligo Garda Station Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and hand up his passport.

The court heard another defendant hasn’t been arrested yet.
