Sligo’s US Statesman

THE Council has agreed to host an exhibition on the largely unknown Sligo man who “made Winston Churchill”.

The William Bourke Cockran Foundation will hold the exhibition about him in City Hall for a fortnight from 4- 18 May.

“This guy should be recognised for the great things he did in his life,” said Cllr Seamus Kilgannon, echoed by Cllr Rosaleen O’Grady. Cllr Declan Bree said “efforts to remember him should be welcomed.” Cllr O’Grady said “we’d all be happy to move our May meeting to the County Council chamber to facilitate that.”
