Dog fouling becoming a major problem - Mulvey
Signs warning of a fine for dog fouling have been erected around parts of South Sligo after local representatives received numerous complaints.
The problem is not unique to South Sligo, with Councillors across the county raising the issue with constituents several times.
Councillor Dara Mulvey has warned locals of the potential dangers that could arise when dog owners do not clean up after their pets.
“We all like to bring our dogs for a walk but please consider other road users, local home owners and local farmers who have concerns about sheep worrying and dog fouling which is becoming a major problem for sheep farmers and other walkers.
“Dog waste bags and Poop scoopers are available in most pet shops.”
Signs have most recently been erected in Ballymote and areas of Coolaney where the problem is continuing to get worse.
