Home from home service in Enniscrone story 2

-

SINN Fein TD Martin Kenny and party colleague Cllr Thomas Healy have welcomed the decision by the HSE to continue to fund the Home from Home service in Enniscrone in West Sligo for 2017.

Deputy Kenny said: “I am delighted that the excellent service provided by Home from Home in Enniscrone will continue for at least the rest of 2017.

“The service which was due to close this week has received funding of € 41k to continue.

“Cllr Thomas Healy brought this issue to my attention a number of weeks ago that this essential facility for vulnerable people with dementia which was supported by the Alzheimer’s society of Ireland was going to close on the 24th February.

“I raised the matter with the Minister for Health through a parliamentary question which culminated in a review of the facility.

“This review obviously showed that this facility is a vital service to these vulnerable people and deserves its funding.

“While funding has only being secured for the rest of 2017, I hope that following a further review that the HSE will continue to fund this facility well into the future.”

Reaction on the ground in Enniscrone has been very positive and families who avail of the service are delighted and hopeful that it will be maintained into the future.
