The Sligo Champion

Array of sporting disciplines honoured at Sports Awards

-

THE upcoming Sligo Sports Awards 2017, in conjunction with The Sligo Champion and Callan Tansey Solicitors are recognising the many sporting disciplines throughout the county. From soccer, GAA, rugby, athletics, swimming, golf, triathlons, Special Olympics, the list goes on.

Along with the main sponsor, Callan Tansey Solicitors, there are also associate sponsors, which are invaluable to ensuring the event is made possible.

All clubs across all sports in the county were invited to participate in the awards, which recognise the efforts of athletes who promote excellence in sport in the county and do Sligo proud.

It’s a chance to honour and celebrate the successes of our athletes young and old who are a credit to themselves and their clubs and coaches.

Along with the sports stars themselves, the many volunteers, who do such vital work in the background, much of which goes unnoticed, are also getting a chance to have their efforts recognised.

2016 saw some brilliant achievements on the playing field from Sligo’s sports enthusiasts and the upcoming awards are a fantastic way to celebrate these.

There were European, National and Connacht titles won across many sporting disciplines, while records were also smashed. The Sligo Sports Awards Ceremony is taking place in the Radisson Blu Hotel on the afternoon of Thursday, March 9th.

Special Guest, former Republic of Ireland star Niall Quinn will enthral the audience with his incredible tales from representing his country, to playing with Arsenal, Manchester City and Sunderland.

He is now a well regarded pundit and his knowledge of the game is top class. Tickets for the event are available from the offices of the Sligo Champion.

They cost € 28 and this includes lunch.

The event begins at 2pm and there will also be an Overall Sports Personality revealed on the day from the various categories.

For more information, contact the office on 071 9169222 or email marketing@ sligochampion. ie to book your tickets.
