Sligo backs Fairtrade

Sligo is firmly backing Fairtrade Fortnight which will see a range of products carrying the symbol on sale throughout the county.

The town first gained its Fairtrade status in 2008 and it is one of 50 Fairtrade towns across the country. Fairtrade Fortnight began on 27th February and will run until 12th March.

Fairtrade aims to make sure that farmers in those countries that produce many of the products we enjoy such as tea, coffee and chocolate, are fairly paid for their work and are not exploited. products and helping to prevent exploitati­on.
