THE Lough Gill Brewery, one of Sligo’s newest businesses, took centre stage at last week’s Alltech Craft Brews & Food Fair Festival at the Convention Centre in Dublin, winning two medals for its beers.

The recognition comes just months after local entrepreneur James Ward, launched the Lough Gill Brewery – James was also creator and founder of The White Hag Brewery in Ballymote.

Lough Gill’s Imperial Oatmeal Coffee Cream Stout won Silver in the Dublin Craft Beer Cup 2017 at the influential Alltech event.

Judges at the Alltech fair also honoured Lough Gill for its popular McNutty beer– the Macadamia Nut Brown Ale also won Sliver in the Dublin Craft Beer Cup. Speaking at the event, James Ward said: “We are delighted to accept these awards. It’s a true testament to the high- quality brews brewed at Lough Gill Brewery.

Lough Gill Brewmaster Tony Wickham, who hails from the United States, said: “Having made the commitment to move to Ireland and working with James it’s great to see our beers receiving high recognition in our early days.”
