The Sligo Champion

This was a big panel performance

-

That is all before a ball is kicked. We did actually start the game well but the scars from Antrim took a little time to heal so hence our poor execution and turnovers.

Even though we were on top, we missed chances and with 28 minutes gone on the clock we found ourselves seven points down.

It was important that we clawed that back to five by half time. The whistle came at the perfect juncture. We were able to regroup and reinforce our game plan for the second period.

Our subs made a big difference but overall it was a big panel performance. I also have to mention our 16th man, which is you the supporters… don’t ever underestimate your importance to this team. You stayed positive in the first half when things weren’t going as smoothly as we would have liked. This will always filter through to the players and the positive energy paved the way for our boys to march on to victory in the second half.

Hope to see you all in Longford in two weeks’ time.
