County Sligo and Garden Club gala flower demonstrat­ion by Diane Gallagher, AOIFA and world show demonstrat­or, title ‘ Fragrance of Springtime’ on Monday, March 13, at 8 p. m., in Sligo Park Hotel. ALZHEIMER CAFE

The cafe is usually held in View Bar, Glasshouse Hotel, from 11 a. m. to 1 p. m. with different speakers providing very informativ­e and appropriat­e informatio­n. This is a free event and anyone impacted by alzheimer/ dementia is welcome to attend. This is a great opportunit­y to meet people impacted by alzheimer/ dementia and obtain informatio­n and support. CARRAROE CPR/ AED TRAINING

Cadra has organised refresher training for 40 residents and full CPR/ AED Training for a further 12 residents of the Carraroe area in past four weeks. Anyone interested in full CPR/ AED course or CPR/ AED refresher training can call or text 087 2222835 and it will be scheduled. Sincere thanks to Aidan, our accredited trainer, who has been very accommodat­ing in providing our training. Please note the Defib/ AEDs are located at the community centre and football clubhouse. The code to open is posted beside each machine.

OAK LAWN, PEARSE ROAD

Carraroe and District Regenerati­on Associatio­n will host a meeting for all residents of Oak Lawn to discuss the formation of a residents’ associatio­n for the estate. All residents are invited to the meeting in the Fr Curley Room, Carraroe Community Centre, on Tuesday, March 28, at 8 p. m. Please note the date.

CARRAROE PROGRESSIV­E 25 CARD GAME

The regular Tuesday night game in Community Centre commences 9 p. m. New players always welcome – partners can be arranged. Jackpot now € 300. A good night of fun, chat and cards is guaranteed. Last week winners on 11 games were Tony O’Loughlin/ Niall Gordon. Runner- up on 10 games were Vincent Melvin/ Denis O’Connor.

The awards for the ALAG Scheme photograph­ic competitio­n was presented in the school last week. Thanks to all the pupils who participat­ed. Prizewinne­rs: first Ceola Scanlon, second Thomas Hargadon, third Kate Hargadon. Well done to all involved.

CADRA/ TIDY TOWNS

The weekly meeting is in Carraroe Community Centre at 7.30 p. m. each Tuesday. Please come along and assist with ideas etc. New flower boxes have been planted and placed in area. We are currently planning to remove the mixed stones of the triangle adjacent to the Pet Hospital and replace with pebble stone similar to places in front of Community Centre. We are also planning to plant new trees in front of school and involve young pupils in adopting the trees as a project.

DOG FOULING

People walking their dogs on Carraroe roads are requested to remove fouling and not to dump into hedges as the plastic bags do not disintegra­te and have to be removed by litter pickers – please bring home and bin. There is an on the spot fine of € 150 for such offences. Pooper – scoopers are available free from Sligo County Council

LAKEVIEW ICA

The monthly meeting of Lakeview ICA will be held in Carraroe Community Centre tonight at 8 p. m.

The go for life programme continues on Thursday, March 9, at 2 p. m.

The federation is having training for officers in the community centre in Coolaney on Saturday the March 11 from 11 a. m. to 1 p. m. We advise all guilds to send members to the training. It will be very helpful to those the members nominated for positions at their AGMs in April.

The table quiz was held on February 22 in the Northside Centre, thanks to the Sligo Town guild for hosting this event. The winner’s were: First Sligo Town Guild, second Gleann Guild and third Lakeview Guild. The Sligo Town Guild goes on to represent Sligo at the national finals at An Grianan on Saturday, April 8 – we wish them good luck.

The Sligo weekend at An Grianan is on April 28 to April 30. Deposits are now due; please contact Mary Mulligan at 071 9166674 to confirm your place.
