Man in court after Tubber blade attack
A man in his late twenties will appear at Tubercurry District Court on Wednesday week charged in connection with an incident in the town last week where a man was slashed with a Stanley knife in the face and back.
The injured man was attacked by another man outside a shop in the town on Wednesday afternoon last. He received cuts to his back and another laceration to the left hand side of his face.
It is believed there had been a verbal altercation between the two men before the knife was produced. The attacker left in a car and Gardaí were notified. A number of arrests took place in Tubbercurry subsequently including a woman, also in her 20s, who was released later without charge.
Last Friday, Gardaí from the town assisted by members from Ballymote and the Regional Response Unit conducted a number of searches in Tubbercurry.
During this, a suspect identified in the slashing incident was arrested and brought to Ballymote Garda Station for questioning.
He was charged and brought before a special sitting of Sligo District Court on Friday.
Judge Kevin Kilrane released him on bail to a sitting of Tubbercurry District Court on March 23rd. He was ordered to stay away from Tubbercurry as part of his bail.
