Dog owner facing charges over incidents at Mullaghmore beach
A dog owner has appeared at Sligo District Court charged with failing to control her dogs.
Jutta Beinker of Soxline, Dromahair is charged with three offences relating to an uncontrolled dog on May 8th at the Burrough, Mullaghmore, Cliffoney and two charges on August 1st 2016.
Beinker ( 62) is also charged with engaging in threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour on both dates.
The defendant, who was not legally represented, said she was pleading not guilty to the charges of not controlling her dogs.
Regarding the Public Order summonses she said that she wasn’t her usual self at the time after she had stopped taking medication she had been on for years in the belief that she didn’t think she needed to take it anymore.
“I don’t need a solicitor. I can deal with it myself,” she said. She added that both dogs in question had since been re- homed.
Inspector Donal Sweeney said the matter arose from the defendant having eight dogs on the beach.
The defendant said she had property in Manorhamilton and Dromahair comprising about 25 acres on which she kept 39 cats, six dogs, eight horses and a number of goats.
Judge Kevin Kilrane asked the Inspector that given the fact the two dogs were rehomed was the question of an adult caution being administered considered in the matter instead of a prosecution.
The Inspector undertook to consider and the case was then adjourned to May 4th for mention to see if an adult caution would be given.
