Progress of greenway to be considered at co- op AGM

-

SLIGO Greenway Co- op will hold its AGM on 22nd of March next at the Yeats County Inn Hotel in Curry, Co. Sligo at 8pm.

The AGM will provide an opportunity for supporters of the suggested Greenway to get a first- hand progress report on the proposal.

The group with almost 1.000 shareholders, continue lobbying at all levels for a greenway to be created on the route of the disused railway line running between Collooney and Bellaghy.

These shareholders will be invited to convene for the Coop’s second AGM.

The meeting will consider progress of the Sligo Greenway project since the Co- op was registered less than two years ago, and decide on the strategy to push this project forward.

The AGM will be advised that it is both desirable and feasible to have the project approved for funding in 2017 and underway in 2018.

According to Co- op Secretary, John McCarrick, “This situation derives from two facts: With a payback in the local community, conservatively estimated at two years it is among the most attractive projects for public funding and secondly the need for a local tourism project for South Sligo is great indeed.”

The AGM is also an opportunity for those interested in the project to come along and sign up as supporters and to further assist with the lobbying process.

The meeting take place at 8pm on Wednesday, 22nd March next.
