GARDAI in Sligo have received a number of reports of thefts from parked cars in the Pearse Road / Tonnaphubble area of Sligo on the night of 3rd/ 4th march 2017.

In these incidents, car windows were broken and a number of handbags, small quantities of cash and a suitcase were stolen.

Any information that can assist the Gardaí in relation to these thefts can be given confidentially at Sligo Garda station.

Gardai are requesting members of the public to ensure that there are no valuable items left on display when leaving their vehicles parked and unattended.

Sergeant Jim Fox, Crime Prevention Officer at Sligo advises the public, that property should not be left in cars overnight.

If you must store property in their vehicle, it should be placed in the boot where it is out of view, and should be placed there at a location other than where they intend to park.

Vehicles when parked should have windows closed and doors locked and the immobiliser or alarm set.
