107 NAMA houses “not suitable”

-

OUT of 111 NAMA properties offered to Sligo County Council, only four were suitable to offer people on the housing list.

Cllr Declan Bree sought an explanation on the figures.

“Yes, at first glance the figures do look shocking,” said Chief Executive Ciarán Hayes.

But he said his housing staff were “good at looking for houses and meeting the needs of people on the housing list.”

“There was no point in the Council using Exchequer funds to buy houses where we had no need and where we had houses boarded up and empty,” he said, adding that most of the houses offered were not suitable for the people on the Sligo housing list.
