ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

It is all systems go for Manorhamil­ton’s eagerly awaited St Patrick’s Day parade on this Friday evening, March 17, when what is expected to be a very big line- up of parade participan­ts will leave from the Fire Station at 5.30 p. m.

The best float in the parade will receive a trophy and there will be lots prizes for other categories, as well. There will be also be what is sure to be a keen competitio­n ran in conjunctio­n with the parade for the best shop window display on theme of St Patrick’s national feast day celebratio­n.

The parade will follow the usual route around and through the town and returning to the Fire Station afterwards. Volunteers are always needed to assist on the day for stewarding, etc., to ensure everything goes according to plan with the parade.

ÉALÚ YOUTH CAFÉ

Manorhamil­ton’s Éalú Youth Café was set up in September 2016. It is a voluntary ran organisati­on with eight youth leaders who are all Garda Vetted and have complete Child Protection Training.

Éalú a place where all post- primary aged students can avail of its facilities and it is also somewhere they can sit down, relax, watch television, play pool and meet up with friends. There will also be events and activities organised throughout the year for the members such as inter- club soccer, stay awakes, trips, etc.

A pool table, music, games, Sky TV and Wi- Fi are some the items, etc., available for use in the Éalú Youth Café, which is located upstairs in the Bee Park Community Centre. It is open from 7 p. m. to 9 p. m. every Thursday evening with a fee of € 2 for each young person attending.

WALK FOR SYRIA/ TALK

From 11 a. m. to 1.30 p. m. on on this Saturday, March 18, a short fundraiser walk for Syria will take place in Glenfarne Forest and a talk afterwards on Syria in the Rainbow Ballroom, organised by Glenfarne Community Developmen­t Group.

The Rainbow Ballroom will be the walk assembly point. The talk will be given by Rola, an Irish Syrian. Refreshmen­ts and music will be provided by the local Comhal-
