RECENT DEATHS

The funeral of the late John Sherlock, of Doon Rock, Gurteen, who died in Manchester on February 16. will take place today, Tuesday, March 21, with the funeral Mass at midday. Burial afterwards will be in Carrrentem­ple Cemetery. He was brother of Paul, Doon, Gurteen. Sincere sympathy is extended to his brothers Paul, Patrick and Dermot and to all his relations and friends. May he rest in peace.

The death took place in Bailey’s Nursing Home, Tubbercurr­y on March 8 of Winifred Hannon, nee Scanlon, Kilfree, Gurteen in her 99th year. A well- liked and popular member of the community she will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Her remains reposed at her residence and were removed to St Patrick’s Church Gurteen on Thursday evening. Her funeral Mass on Friday was celebrated by Fr Joe Caulfield PP assisted by Fr Joe Gavican P. P. Ballaghade­rreen and Fr, Dan O’Mahoney, C. C. Cloonacool and burial took place afterwards in Carrentemp­le Cemetery. She is survived by her daughters Mary and Ann, sons Séamus and John, sons- in- law, daughters – in – law, grandchild­ren, great grandchild­ren, extended family and a large circle of friends and relations to whom deepest sympathy is extended. May she rest in peace.

The death took place on March 7 of Tommy Lavin, Ballymote former member of Sligo County Council. He was father of Margaret Mullaney Mullaghroe, Gurteen. Sincere sympathy is extended to Margaret and family and to all his family and many friends. May he rest in peace.
