Sligo ladies defeat Kildare
SLIGO ladies players and club delegates gathered in the Clayton hotel last Monday to hear chairman Keith Gilroy announce three new partnerships for Sligo ladies football. These are the Clayton hotel group, The Blind Tiger and CHH engineers Sligo.
Mr Gilroy complimented the work that went into bringing these partners on board for the 2017 season. He said: “This is a big step forward for Sligo Ladies football after last year’s announcement of a three- year sponsorship deals with Connacht gold the first of its kind for ladies football in Sligo.” Mr Gilroy is hopeful that these partnerships will be beneficial to both parties. He also encouraged everybody associated with Sligo ladies football to support their partners in any way possible. He stressed the importance of these partnerships as ladies football does not receive funding from any party, all costs are covered by fundraising by their members.
He said at the minute their fundraising is going well with the launch of a 300 Club members.
“Tickets are on sale for all clubs and the first day of the draw taking place is at the end of March.
“This is a big year for Sligo ladies as we are celebrating 25 years playing football,” Mr Gilroy pointed out. He encouraged everybody to get behind their teams this year too. “Our intermediate team have had mixed fortunes so far in the National League with two wins and two losses and have two very important home games coming up in the next few weeks. Our u14s drew in the first round of the Connacht championship and our minor had a one point win over Leitrim last week,” he added.
