A man who drove through a stop sign while he was holding a mobile phone has been fined ¤ 120 after he failed to turn up in court. Dan O’Mahony ( 65) of Cloonacool, Tubbercurry, was charged with holding a mobile phone at Laveybeg, Charlestown last August 3rd. Inspector Paraic Burke told Judge Kevin Kilrane that it was alleged that O’Mahony was driving a trailer at the time and drove through a stop sign while on his phone.

Judge Kilrane convicted and fined O’Mahony ¤ 120 in his absence after he made no appearance at Tubbercurry District Court.
