Hidden potholes at bridge are ‘ destroying cars’ says Gormley

-

Councillor Margaret Gormley wants to see some hidden potholes repaired at a South Sligo bridge.

At a recent meeting of the Tubbercurry Municipal District, she tabled a motion calling for works to be carried out on road 685 Meelroe, Cloonloo where water is lodging at the bridge resulting in potholes that are not visible to road users.

She said: “People are destroying their cars because there are two large potholes in the track where vehicles travel. They cannot be seen due to water lodging.

“There is no place for motorists to go to avoid them and no matter how slow one goes the bottom of cars are destroyed. This is a link road used on a daily basis by the people living on it.

“The matter needs urgent attention. It’s a safety issue and not acceptable that people have to endure such hardship.

“There is no signage to warn people.”
