First race meeting called off

THE first race meeting of Sligo Races has been called off due to drainage remedial works currently taking place.

The meeting, scheduled for Sunday, April 30th, was cancelled early last week.

Kathryn Foley, manager of Sligo Races, said it was due to remedial works. She explained: “Following a course inspection by Turf Club Officials at Sligo on Tuesday, the course was found to be unfit for racing due to remedial works ( drainage).

“As a consequence, the fixture scheduled for Sunday 30th April has been cancelled”. There are seven further race meetings scheduled for the summer, including May 22nd, June 20th, July 16th, August 9th and 10th,
