Abusive at Hospital A & E

-

A 24 year old man has been given three concurrent prison sentences of one month for a string of Public Order offences and stealing a bike.

Ricky Pugh, of Maryville Hostel, Finisklin, appeared before Judge Kilrane at the District Court last week.

He pleaded guilty to being abusive and threatening at the Emergency Department of Sligo University Hospital on March 27th and on June 23rd of last year.

Pugh stole a bicycle belonging to Mr Jason McLoughlin at Citygate Apartments on the Mail Coach Road on June 17th 2016.

He also pleaded guilty to being drunk and abusive at Shannon Eighter, Bundoran Road on August 1st.

Mr Tom MacSharry, defence solicitor, told the court that the bicycle had been recovered and Pugh had pleaded guilty at the first available opportunity.

“He has engaged fully with Ms Myles the Probation Officer. There is a sadness and tragedy to the Probation Report,” he told Judge Kilrane.

Mr MacSharry said that at the time of the above incidents, Pugh was homeless, abusing alcohol and prescription and Class A drugs but was “very apologetic.”

Judge Kilrane sentenced Pugh to one month in prison for the three Section 6 Public Order offences and took the rest into consideration.

Pugh is already in custody serving a prison sentence for a separate matter.
