State given deadline

-

The State has been ordered to be ready to present their case by June against a man accused of assaulting two people in the Crozon Inn.

Judge Kevin Kilrane said that if the State’s case is not ready he will throw out the charge against 49 year old Padraig McMorrow from Caltragh Crescent.

He’s accused of assaulting Mr Michael Harte and Ms Patrice McMorrow causing them harm at the Crozon Inn, Crozon Park, Sligo on October 23rd last.

He’s also accused of having a knife in his possession.

Mr Tom MacSharry, defending, told Judge Kilrane last Thursday in the District Court that it was the fifth time McMorrow’s case had been before the court.

Inspector Paul Kilcoyne told the Judge that DPP’s directions were “not to hand.”

“The allegations are very, very serious. It was a comprehensive investigation,” he said.

Judge Kilrane adjourned the case to June 15th and marked the case “peremptory against the State” which means it could be struck out if the DPP’s directions are not ready on the next date.
