SLIGO AC athletes competed well in National Juvenile Indoor Championsh­ip held in Athlone IT at the weekend.

In an exhilarati­ng under 12 Girls Long Jump Final, Ornagh Murphy, pictured, jumped a hugely impressive 4.32 Metres to snatch the Gold medal by a mere 1cm from Belgooly AC’s Hannah Falvey.

Well done also to who claimed a su- the Under 18

Sean recorded a Long Jump while Maebh lin also per- well in the Girls Long with 3.19M.

In the 800M Under 14 Boys, Ross Do- herty raced a 2: 26 while Dar- ragh Williams ran 2: 12 in the U17 800M with Leo Doherty achieving a great 2: 08 in his Under 18 800M event. Meanwhile Ailbhe Morgan had a good 2: 33 in her 800m U17 Girls.

In other athletics news, the 6th annual Grange 5k will be held on Good Friday 14th of April.

This event is in aid of Friends Of Sligo Hospital and in particular the Paediatric Unit in the hospital. The course is relatively flat and finishes on the track at the Sports Complex. The entries will be taken from 4 30pm and will close at 5: 45pm with a 6pm start for the race.
