Rehab Care winners
A Boccia tournament was recently held in the Knocknarea Arena for the fifth year running, and it was the Rehab Care who came out on top. The event is organised by the HSE Personal Supports and Training Services Sligo along with the Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership. A total of five agencies took part; HSE Personal Supports and Training Service, Rehab Care, National Learning Network, the HSE Resource Centre, and Rosses Sheltered Workshop.
Approximately 60 players participated and there was great fun and excitement when Rehab Care progressed to the final, becoming worthy champions for 2017.
The semi finals proved to be most exciting, when Rehab Care and last year’s winners, HSE Personal Supports and Training Service slogged it out to win a place in the final. As one player remarked: “I love the Boccia cause I get to meet everyone again and have the cup of tea, I would not miss it.”
The HSE Personal Supports and Training Service and Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership would like to thank all the agencies involved for their collaboration and in particular the players for making the day a memorable one.
Thank you to Daniel and Ross in the Knocknarea Arena for their continuing support in setting up the arena for the fifth year of the festival.
A special thanks to volunteers on the day, who were a huge support, Deirdre Cummins, Imelda O’Connor, Mairead Connolly and Connor.
Their refereeing was thorough and fair and without their support and commitment the competition would not be possible, the organisers said.
