U16 Girls Our under 16 girls got their league campaign underway with a hard fought victory over St. Nathy’s in Ransboro Pk. last Wednesday. Playing against a much vaunted opposition, our girls were slow to settle. They fell behind quickly, and it was only the scoring prowess of Eva Schoen that kept them in touch. Half time came with the visitors leading 2- 04 to 1- 05, with all bar one point coming from the boot of Eva Schoen, the other point coming from Aislinn Doggett. With the second half came a much improved performance from the home side. The midfield of Caoimhe O’ Sullivan and Eilis Burke began to get on top, and in defence Grace Molloy, Nadine Deering, and Gráinne Redmond snuffed out any Nathy’s attack, helped by Cliodhna O’ Sullivan and Ellen Given. The forwards passed the ball well and scores came more easily. Eva Schoen caused the visitor’s defence endless problems and would finish with 2- 06 to her name. Aislinn Doggett added to her tally with a long range goal. Eliis Burke, Roisin Heneghan and Gráinne Redmond rounded off the scoring with a point each. Their next match is another tough encounter with C. T. Gaels in Ransboro this evening ( Tuesday) Team: Ciara Lindsay, Ellen Given, Cliodhna O’ Sullivan, Grace Molloy, Nadine Deering, Gráinne Redmond ( 0- 01), Caoimhe O’ Sullivan, Éilis Burke ( 0- 01), Roisín Heneghan ( 0- 01), Eva Schoen ( 2- 06), Aislinn Doggett ( 1- 01), Danika Kerrigan, Eimear Callaghan. Subs; Holly Gilligan ( Danika Kerrigan), Amy Deering ( Eimear Callaghan).
