PARADE SUCCESS

Despite the bad weather there was a terrific turnout to see over 40 floats at the Riverstown Parade. Unfortunat­ely not everyone could be a winner but here are the judges choices.

Overall Winner: Coolbock NS, Runner- up: Fr Ted. Most Original: Coolbock NS. Most topical: First Riverstown Pharmacy, second Macra Na Feirme. Most Comical: first Fr Ted, second G4M and O’and TAPA. Most Creative: first Geevagh Honda 50 Club, second Kathy Burke Photograph­y. Schools Category: first Taunagh NS, second Ardkeeran NS. Children’s Category: first Little Buddies, second Cloghouge NS. Best Plant/ Machinery: first Michael Dodd, second Gerry Davey. Best Agricultur­al: first Riverstown Agricultur­al Show, second McGoldrick­s. Best Classic Vehicle: first Glen Mulligan, second Jim Clerkin. Best Musical/ Dance: first Bróga Bríomhar, second Sooey School Band. Best sports: first Collooney Kickboxing club, second Green Dragons.

Thanks to the Judges, Kathy Burke Photograph­y and DJ Justin, to all who assisted with the Stand n setting up the town. Special thanks to the stalwart Stewarts, the Gardaí and all who contribute­d to the parade and Novelty Event running so well. Most of all to the participan­ts who created terrific, entertaini­ng Floats and to all the people that turned out to watch the Event.

RELAY TEAM

Well done to the Corran AC under- 16 boys relay team who got silver in the Connaught indoor championsh­ips in Athlone recently, Aaron McKenna, Micheál Coen, Daniel Murphy and Dion McLoughlin.

SOOEY ENROLMENT

Parents and children wishing to enrol in Sooey National School for September 2017 are invited to visit the school on Friday, March 31, from 2.15 p. m. to 3 p. m. This will give the children an opportunit­y to meet their fellow pupils and the teachers in the school.

DUCK RACE AND BARBECUE

Little Buddies Duck Race will take place on Sunday, April 9, at 1.30 p. m. on the River Unshin. Ducks will be available from Little Buddies and local shops. Still only € 5 per duck. This year there will be a barbecue as well. So don’t miss out.

This is Little Buddies main fundraiser for the year so any support would be greatly appreciate­d. Excellent prizes, games and entertainm­ent on the day. Everyone welcome to come along and cheer on their duck enjoy a good lunch.

MOLL

Riverstown Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann presents the Sliabh an Iarainn Players production of ‘ Moll’ by John B Keane, on Saturday, April 8, at 8.30 p. m., Riverstown Community Hall. Produced and directed by Frank Cadam. Admission € 10.

EASTER HUNT

There will be an Easter Egg Treasure Trail at the Sligo Folk Park on Tuesday, April 11, at midday, booking is essential. This can be done by emailing folkparksl­igo@ gmail. com Price € 5 per person.

GOOD FRIDAY CAKE SALE

The parents’ associatio­n are holding their annual cake sale and raffle for Ardkeeran National School, to be held in Riverstown Community Hall after Good Friday Devotions at 4 p. m.
