Businesses come together for successful ‘ Adopt a charity’
A pilot ‘ matchmaking’ scheme in which businesses give their skills free of charge to charities and community groups has been hailed as a success.
The Building Block venue saw over 25 businesses and volunteers come together to discuss collaborations at the ‘ Adopt a Charity” morning.
“It was a great success and we are delighted to see so many Sligo businesses on hand to support or pledge support to so many charitable and voluntary groups for all sorts of needs,” said Sligo Volunteer Centre manager Ciara Herity.
Participating companies included Bank of Ireland, GSK, Stripe Marketing, Gilroy Gannon, OSD, Wobego, StoryLab and Abbott, official corporate partner to European Volunteer Capital 2017.
This week’s event saw businesses determine what skills they can share with non- profit community groups and what causes they would like to get involved in. Sligo Volunteer Centre will now suggest ‘ matches’ for both parties. For further information contact evc2017@ volunteersligo. ie or visit www. evcsligo. eu
