Assaultcharge dropped

-

An assault charge against a man who allegedly beat his wife has been dropped after his wife claimed he had been on the wrong dose of medication.

John Moran ( 64) of St John’s Terrace, was accused of assaulting his wife Mrs Kitty Moran causing her harm at their home on February 13th this year.

Defence solicitor, Ms Laura Spellman, told Judge Kevin Kilrane at the District Court that the injured party, Moran’s wife, wished to make a statement and withdraw her complaint.

She also handed in a letter from John Moran’s GP.

Taking the witness stand, Mrs Moran said she was withdrawing her complaint against her husband John and told Inspector Paul Kilcoyne that she was happy to do so.

“It was the high dose of the medication my husband was on was the problem,” she told the court.

Judge Kilrane struck out the charge.
