Easter displays run by 12 churches

THERE’S a religious event taking place in Sligo every day this Holy Week as part of the ‘ Spring to Life’ initiative run by twelve churches. There is a full programme of shared activities and services over the period of Holy Week starting on Saturday 8th and running until Easter Day.

The Methodist Church on Wine St hosts an evening for young adults today ( Tuesday 11th) at 7.00 pm. Call 083 478 0831 to book. A team led by Sligo City Church will be offering to pray for passers- by outside Johnston Court on both Holy Saturday and Wednesday from 11 am – 1 pm. A community gospel evening in the Sligo Presbyteri­an Hall hosted by the Redeemed Christian Church of God also takes place on Wednesday 12th at 8.00 pm. David White will speak at the healing service in Drumcliffe Church on Maundy Thursday 13th at 8.00 pm. There is a full programme of free children’s activities held in the Presbyteri­an Hall from Monday – Wednesday 2.30 – 5.00 pm. The youth night will be held in the Presbyteri­an on Thursday 13th at 7.30 pm.

Two churches will be open during the week with Easter displays and installati­ons: The Methodist Church opens Tuesday – Thursday 11 am – 4 pm and Drumcliffe Church will be open Monday – Good Friday from 10 am – 4 pm. In addition to a prayer walk starting at 10.30 am in Hazelwood on Good Friday, there will be an hour at the cross at St John’s Cathedral from 2.00 - 3.00 pm and an 8.00 pm service entitled’ At the foot of the cross’ starting at 8.00 pm in the Presbyteri­an. As usual the shared services culminate with an open air communion at 7.00 am on Lissadell Beach followed by breakfast in the Lissadell Centre. See facebook. com/ springtoli­fesligo
