CAKE SALE

The usual cake sale will take place in Community Centre on Good Friday after the 3 p. m. services. This year it is organised in aid of the local activities including CPR/ AED, Tidy Towns and Text Alert. It would be appreciate­d if people would consider donating cakes, Buns, Scones, and Tarts etc. Donations can be made Friday morning in Community Centre or contact to any of the following Mary Dunbar – 087 6669533, Dympna O’Loughlin – 087 9303540, Pat Benson – 087 2222835. Tea and coffee will be served and everyone is invited to come and support this local event.

25 CARD GAME

The regular Tuesday night game in Community Centre commences 9 p. m.. New players always welcome- partners can be arranged. Jackpot now € 300. A good night of fun, chat and cards is guaranteed.

FUNDING

We have written to each of our county councillor­s prioritisi­ng the clearing of the existing footpath from the church to Molly Fulton’s as our project for assignment of enhancemen­t money from their allocation for 2017. We look forward to each of the 10 municipal representa­tives making a contributi­on. Please contact your local representa­tive and request them to make a contributi­on.

SPRING CLEAN

The annual Spring Clean is taking place on Saturday, April 22, commencing at 9.30 a. m. Please keep the date free to assist give our community a good spring clean. People are requested to assemble in Fr Curley Room to arrange road schedule etc. All necessary equipment will be available.

The AGM was held on Tuesday, April 4, with the following officers elected. President Maureen Davey, secretary Breege Fox, treasurer Mary McCaffery, PRO. Mary Harkin. The guild thanked Anne McCaffery outgoing president for all her dedication to the guild during her term of office. The pilates classes continue on Thursday at 2 p. m.

The Federation AGM will be held in Coolaney Community Centre on Thursday, April 27, at 8 p. m. Good luck to the Sligo Town Guild members Margaret Horan, Kathleen Gallagher and Truda Houston representi­ng Sligo Federation at the table quiz at An Grianan.

Easter Ceremonies in our local churches are as follows. Church of the Assumption, Collooney: Holy Thursday – Mass of the Last Supper at 8 p. m. Good Friday – The Passion of Our Lord at 3 p. m. Vigil Mass on Easter Saturday – 9 p. m. in Collooney only

Church of St Fechin and St Lassara, Ballinacar­row: Holy Thursday – Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 6.30 p. m. Good Friday – Stations of the Cross at 7 p. m.

Ministers of Holy Communion are reminded to renew their commitment at the Mass of the Lord’s Supper in either the Church of the Assumption, Collooney or the Church of St Feichin and St Lassara, Ballinacar­row tonight, Holy Thursday.

Parishione­rs are also reminded to return their Trócaire Boxes this evening at the Mass of the Lord’s Supper in either Church.

ST PAUL’S CHURCH

Service of Reflection on Good Friday at 8 p. m. Easter Sunday: 10.45 a. m. – Holy Communion Family Service

An Eggcellent Easter 2017 event will take place on Good Friday morning in the Parochial Hall, Collooney from 10 a. m. to 12.30 p. m. where there will be lots of activities, egg hunts etc.

CAR TREASURE HUNT

A Car Treasure Hunt will take place this Easter Sunday, April 16, in Ballygawle­y. The first car will leave Callaghans Bar car park at 2.30 p. m. € 20 per car. All you have to do do is arrive and register.

An Easter Social will then be held in Callaghans Bar that night where the winners will be announced. Music by Michael Walsh 10 p. m. Proceeds are in aid of Ballygawle­y Community Park.

WEDDING BELLS

Congratula­tions to Lorraine Giblin, Laragan, Collooney and Edward O’Donoghue, who were married on Saturday, April 1, in the Church of the Assumption, Collooney. Lorraine is a daughter of Maureen and Paddy Giblin and sister of Edel, Mairead and Pauraic. Congratula­tions to both Lorraine and Edward.

40TH BIRTHDAY

DAFFODIL DAY

Thank you to all who supported the recent collection, to the collectors, Collooney Post Office, Cecil’s Centra and Sligo Junction/ Hot Rods, who allowed the collection on their premises. Total amount collected € 2.429.55.

FR DERMOT BURNS R. I. P.

The death took place recently of Fr Dermot Burns, former parish priest of Straide. Deepest sympathy is extended to his family, to his fellow brotherhoo­d of priests and all who mourn his passing. May he rest in peace.

COLLECTION THANKS

Many thanks to parishione­rs of both Collooney and Ballinacar­row, who contribute­d to the Emigrants Collection on St Patrick’s Day. The amount realised was € 1,230.
