GRAVEYARD COMMITTEE

A meeting of Kilmactran­ny Graveyard Committee takes place on Good Friday at 4.30 p. m. in the cemetery. All committee members requested to attend and new members, ie anyone with an interest in the upkeep of the graveyard are welcome.

HIGHWOOD CAKE SALE

Highwood Mission Society will hold a cake sale in Highwood Community Centre on Good Friday after the Devotions.

HISTORICAL RECORDING

A project to record the graveyard memorials in Kilmactran­ny old cemetery was due to commence on Monday, April 3, but was postponed because of the bad weather. It will be re- scheduled. The training is funded by Sligo County Council and the Heritage Council and experience is not required.

MACRA CLUB QUIZ

The newly formed Geevagh Macra club are hosting a table quiz in Paddy’s Bar on Saturday, April 22, It is great to see this organisati­on set up in the community to help to cater for the 18 to 35- year age group. EASTER EGG HUNT

Easter Egg Hunt on Holy Saturday, April 15, from 3 p. m. in Gurteen Hall. Disco, Face Painting, Colouring Competitio­n with prizes and loads more on the day. Tea, coffee and the Easter Bunny will be there. A fun day for all. € 5 per child for first two children, € 3 per child thereafter. Organised by Gurteen Playground and Recreation Group.

Bingo is on every Friday night at 8.30 p. m. in Gurteen Hall the jackpot is now € 2,200 on 49 calls plus lotto raffle and big cash prizes on each game. Proceeds are shared between the hall upkeep and the local GAA Club Eastern Harps.

A TRANSFORME­D PEOPLE

An interestin­g lecture takes place in Manorhamil­ton Library on Friday night, April 21, at 8 p. m., entitled ‘ A Transforme­d People – Parish Missions in the diocese of Kilmore 1850- 1880.’

The lecture, which will be delivered by Fr Ultan McGoohan, will provide details on the North Leitrim impact of parish missions in the second half of the 19th century. The Catholic Church in Ireland was transforme­d between 1850 and 1880.

The next North Leitrim Community Developmen­t Network meeting will take place in the Bee Park Community Centre Manorhamil­ton on Tuesday night, April 11, at 8 p. m.
