Historical Cully bridge restored
The historical Cully bridge has been restored to its former glory. During 2016, repairs were carried out to the limestone arch bridge spanning the Mullaghnahoe River, near the Mayo border.
Sligo County Council spokesman Kevin Colreavy says: “The masonry work is of a particularly high standard and works involved repairs to cutwaters, the arch soffit and taking down a failing parapet and rebuilding. The work was carried out using conservation principles.
The work was carried out by Triur Construction Ltd, with design, specification and supervision by the Structures and Marine Section. Director of Services Tom Kilfeather commended Senior Executive Engineer Gary Salter and his team for their outstanding work in preserving and maintaining the county’s historical bridges.
