Ran off on seeing Garda
YOUNG man who ran off on seeing a Garda later admitted that he had thrown away a cannabis joint. Before Sligo District Court on a charge of obstruction under the Drugs Act at Maugheraboy on May 11th last was Luke Melly, 19 Cranmore Place. Inspector Donal Sweeney said Garda Conor Doherty approached a group of young men at 11.46pm and the defendant ran off but was subsequently apprehended. He said he had a joint earlier which he had thrown away.
Mr Mark Mullaney, solicitor ( defending) pleaded no evidence was recovered and he asked the court to deal with the matter as though it was a possession charge. Judge Kilrane struck out the matter
