Hawk’s Well ¤ 150k funding

-

THE Hawk’s Well Theatre has asked the Council for ¤ 50,000 funding a year over the next three years.

Theatre Director Marie O’Byrne made the appeal at the April County Council meeting.

Chief Executive Ciarán Hayes said they could only commit on a year- to- year basis i. e. ¤ 50,000 for 2017.

He urged Members to support the theatre: “If you’re looking at a major area like Sligo you need these facilities to cater for a growing population. This is a necessity.”

Cllr Sinead Maguire said the theatre was a vital part of the county’s infrastructure and platform for musicians.

Cllr Marie Casserly said it was vital to the fabric of Sligo that the Hawk’s Well was supported. Cllr Declan Bree also paid tribute to Ms O’Byrne for her work.

Cathaoirleach Cllr Hubert Keaney told her that “one common thread is the outstanding work that you do and your staff.”
