Minister should intervene in Bus Eireann strike

Transport Minister Shane Ross “should be ashamed of himself for allowing the Bus Eireann strike to drag on.

Councillor Declan Bree’s motion called for a Sectoral Employment Order ( SEO) to protect the bus workers while Councillor Gino O’Boyle’s motion called on Minister Ross to intervene.

“The Government’s strategy is to hand public transport over to private operators who will pay the minimum wage,” said Cllr Bree.

Cllr Chris MacManus urged the public to “stand tall with the bus drivers.” Cllr Seamus Kilgannon said Minister Ross should be ashamed of himself. Cllr Thomas Healy said the minister needed to “step up to the mark and do the right thing.”
