Tourlestrane prove too much

-

TOURLESTRANE and St Mary’s seniors took to the field in Tourlestrane on Sunday afternoon and despite St Mary’s never really seeming to get off the ground some nice football was played.

John Marren opened the scoring for the home side with a point and shortly after John Kelly rattled the net after a neat pass in from Niall Egan.

Points followed from Brian Egan ( frees and from play) John Kelly and Gary Gaughan.

Then John Kelly was pulled down in the small square resulting in referee Michael Duffy awarding a penalty.

Brian Egan converted it and with one more well taken point from Gary Gaughan left the sides at 2/ 8 to no score when the half time whistle blew.

The second half saw Tourlestrane take the first score again with a Liam Gaughan point and a point from a free by Brian Egan.

This followed by St Mary’s opening their account with 2 points in quick succession.

But it was not to be St Mary’s afternoon with four more points from Gary Gaughan,

Brian Egan, John Marren and Cathal Henry also scored to finish the game comprehensively at 2- 15 to 2 points.

Tourlestrane take on Eastern Harps next weekend in the 4th round of the league in what which should be another entertaining affair from these south Sligo sides.
