Castleconnor Community Company CLG will hold its annual general meeting on Thursday, May 4, at 9 p. m. in the community centre.
SPRING CLEAN
Castleconnor Community council will participate in the National Spring Clean on Friday the 21st/ Saturday, April 22, all are invited to participate in a much needed clean- up of the roads in our community. You are all invited at 7 p. m. on Friday evening for group picture and distribution of materials. West/ Templeboy under- 12 draughts team who won the Connacht final in Castlebar. Teams members were Maria and Annabelle O’Connell, Aaron Neary, Darragh Toolan, Finn Reid, Seán Og Connolly and Evan Browne.
PARENT/ TODDLER GROUP
Templeboy Parent/ Toddler group meet on Fridays from 10 a. m. to midday in the Old School House. Cost is € 2 per family. Tea and coffee available.

St Farnan’s GAA Club will hold a Fun Tractor Run on Sunday, April 23, at 2 p. m. The run will start at the Old School, Templeboy. All ages, makes and models of tractor is welcome. Entry fee is € 10 per tractor. Registration begins at 1 p. m.

Easkey Community Games will hold the art competition on Thursday, April 27, 4 p. m. to 6 p. m. in Easkey Community Centre. The Model Making Competition will take place on Thursday, May 11, from 4 p. m. to 6 p. m. in Easkey Community Centre.

There was no winner of the jackpot in the Easkey lotto draw on April 7. Numbers drawn were 7, 15, 20 and 35. Winners of € 25 were Audrey Shannon, Sharon Woods, Tony Jones, Rita Cullen and Eileen Doherty. Promoters prize Martina Reilly. ENNISCRONEKILGLASS GAA
Fundraising – While the playing area is now complete, the club needs to raise € 75,000 to bring our indoor astro turf complex to completion ( heating, electrics, toilets, dressing room, kitchen, meeting room etc.). We are currently at the € 15,100 mark and wish to thank all of those who have donated already for their fantastic generosity. All of those who donate prior to the May Bank Holiday weekend will be entered into a draw for cash prizes of € 1,000 and € 500.
The club requires the generosity of the community: individuals, families and businesses, both at home and abroad to bring the project to a completion. As previously advertised, you can sponsor a brick at € 100, a block at € 250 or a wall at € 1,500. There are teams in the various areas/ townlands to contact to donate, and there are also be weekly collection points held around the parish to facilitate people who wish to donate. Open day – We will be holding an open day on Easter Sunday from midday to 2 p. m. for anyone who wishes to view the new facilities at the pitch. Everyone welcome. Intermediate Well done to our intermediate team who got their Division Three campaign off to a winning start with a 1- 16 to 1- 8 defeat of Ballymote at Quigabar last Saturday. In fine conditions, our lads played well in the opening period to lead 1- 10 to 1- 3 at half- time, and despite a disappointing second half held out for victory. They play Easkey in round two on Easter Monday at 1 p. m. in Easkey.
Minor – The Enniscrone- Kilglass/ Easkey minor team take on Tubbercurry/ Cloonacool next Thursday evening at 7 p. m. in Kilcoyne Park, Tubbercurry.
Under- 16 – Our under- 16 boys had a good win over Tourlestrane in their opening fixture in Division Two, 5- 7 to 3- 10 last Wednesday in Quigabar. They play St Farnan’s/ St Patrick’s this Monday ( April 10) at 7 p. m. in Dromard.
Under- 14 – Our under- 14s fell to defeat against a strong Calry/ St Joseph’s side at Hazelwood last Friday evening. Training continues this week.
Under- 12 – Our under- 12s enjoyed a 0- 14 to 0- 4 win over St Patrick’s last Tuesday in their first league game of the year. This Wednesday they will play in altogether different surroundings when they travel to Croke Park for a blitz. It promises to be a great day out, and a fantastic honour for these stars of the future. The bus for parents and players leaves at 6.45 a. m. on Wednesday morning from Enniscrone Church, and will stop at Quigabar at 7 a. m. also. Cost is € 20 for players and € 15 for parents. Tubbercurry ARA will resume meetings after the Easter break with a celebration of Bealtaine ( Mayday) on May 2 at 8 p. m. in the Health Centre. Well- known actress Beezie will present a one- woman show ,’ Beezie’, a sparkling portrayal of the life of Beezie Gallagher, for over 60 years the sole resident of an island on Lough Gill. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome to what promises to be a very enjoyable evening. The bus tour of Northern Ireland at the end of May is completely booked. On May 9 there will an ‘ Alzheimer’s Tea Night’ and among the activities for June will be a day tour to Strokestown House.
SOUTH SLIGO SNAPS
A photographic Exhibition on ‘ Youth in our Community’ hosted by Foróige Youth Club, Tubbercurry, and facilitated by Community Artist, Monica Grossman takes place in Tubbercurry Library, Humbert Street, and Tubbercurry from April 22, at midday Open to the public, this exhibition will run indefinitely.
