Lorry in fatal crash didn’t have certificat­e

A lorry involved in a crash near Castlebald­win that killed a County Council worker, didn’t have a valid certificat­e of road worthiness. Before Sligo District Court last Thursday was the company which owner the lorry, MDS Distributi­on Limited of Togher’s Business Park, Naas.

It was charged with not having the cer- tifcate on August 13th 2015 at Hollybrook Demense. Mr Mark Mullaney, solicitor ( for the company) told the court that there would be a plea to the offence. He said the case was linked to a fatality, charges relating to which were sent forward to the Circuit Court on July 18th next. The driver of the lorry has been charged with dangerous driving cuasing death.

Judge Cormac Dunne adjourned the case against the company until July 20th next, after the other case comes before the Circuit Court. Both Mr Gerard McGovern, solicitor and Ms Ita Lyster, solicitor told Judge Dunne they were holding watching briefs in the mater.
