Made a ‘ cut throat’ gesture to couple
MAN who made a ‘ cut throat’ gesture to a couple outside their house was handed a two month suspended jail term by Judge Cormac Dunne at Sligo District Court.
Oisin Gethins of 98 Garavogue Villas admitted a charge of engaging in threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour at St Michael’s Terrace on March 11th 2015.
Inspector Donal Sweeney said the defendant went to a house at St Michael’s Terrace, the home of Alex and John Clarke at around 4.10pm and he subjected them to threatening and abusive behaviour.
The defendant mad a cut throat gesture in the direction of the couple who have had ongoing issues with the defendant, added the Inspector. The couple felt intimidated, he added.
The defendant was represented by Mr Mark Mullaney, solicitor who entered a plea on behalf of the defendant who had previous convictions. Judge Cormac Dunne said it was a serious threat and raised the threshold in terms of sentencing. A two month jail term was imposed, suspended for six months.
