Man on sexual assault charge

A 28- year- old man has appeared at Sligo District Court charged with sexually assaulting a woman at a house in Sligo in March of last year.

The man, who hails from a county outside of Sligo is charged with assaulting the woman at a house in an estate in the town on March 2nd 2016.

The defendant was represented by Mr Mark Mullaney, solicitor. The court was told the book of evidence in the case had been served on the accused.

Judge Cormac Dunne sent the accused forward for trial to the next sittings of the Circuit Court in Sligo beginning on July 18th next. The Judge imposed reporting restrictions that doesn’t allow for publication of anything which may identify the victim.
