Shore shots is a roaring success

-

SHORE Shots was bigger and better than ever before according to organiser Allan Mulrooney and talks are already under way for Shore Shots 2018.

In its fifth year, the sold- out 3 day event saw people travelling from as far as Australia, France, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.

Sligo was alive with the sound of all things surfing as people from all corners of the globe gathered to show their love for film, art, music and photography.

The atmosphere was electric and the weekend left a lasting impression on those who attended.

“People were blown away by how friendly everyone was in Sligo.

“This year more people got out and about: biking, hiking and surfing. The bar trail was a new element for the event and we packed out a lot of bars in Sligo.” said Allan.

There were more than 400 surfing and film enthusiasts at this year’s festival, almost double the amount at the 2016 festival.

Highlights over the weekend included a feature length film which gathered a crowd of 250 people on Sunday.

Strandhill and Bundoran were the surfing hot spots over the weekend for beginners and experts alike.

“What we wanted to achieve was to leave an impression of Sligo on people in a hope that when they go away they will want to come back and also tell their friends about their experiences of Sligo. I think we definitely achieved that which is great,” said Allan.
