Fun day for the family
THE Sport Ireland Yeats Tour of Sligo gets underway this May Bank Holiday weekend with the Family Fun Day on Saturday 29th April.
It is being held at event headquarters in IT Sligo. The family festival of cycling is a very popular feature of the Sports Ireland Yeats Tour of Sligo programme with hundreds of families and newcomers to cycling taking part annually.
Gold medallist from the Rio 2016 Paralympics Eve McCrystal will be taking part with her daughter and is encouraging families to join her. Eve said: “It’s a real sporting occasion for people of all ages to get active together including children, parents and friends while enjoying the positive benefits of cycling.” Children of nine years and upwards can take part in the 10K Hazelwood Spin, while those of four years and over can cycle the 2K Bike Trail in the grounds of IT Sligo. All cyclists taking part in the Family Fun Day can register on the day from 1.30pm onwards and enjoy the cycling entertainment in advance of the 10k and 2k cycles which depart at 3pm. Samaritan Sligo will be holding a raffle for a children’s bike too.
