All ready for Yeats Tour
ON Sunday next, April 30th, cyclists will be travelling from all over Ireland and oversees to take part in the Sport Ireland Yeats Tour of Sligo. There are several hundred participants from County Sligo cycling clubs. All three distances are proving equally popular with cyclists choosing between the 60K Tour of Lough Gill, the 100K Innisfree Tour and the 160K Ox Mountain Challenge. Registration will close today, Tuesday April 25th and hence all cyclists intending to take part are encouraged to register on line or by postal entry by this date. After months of planning and exceptional community effort from the voluntary and statutory sectors, the organising committee, in conjunction with Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership, are finalising the event preparations which involves over 300 vol- unteers. Cyclists will enjoy Sligo hospitality at the three foodstops along the route in Ballintogher, Bunninadden and Coolaney. Safety is paramount and the organising committee is working closely with An Garda Siochana, Sligo and Leitrim Civil Defence, Mountain Rescue and a large team of marshalls Motorists are advised that a large volume of cyclists will be on the roads of Sligo and Leitrim.
