SPRING CLEAN THANKS

Sincere thanks to all those who turned out on Good Friday morning at 11 a. m. to assist with the Newtownmanor area cleanup. A total of 23 bags of general rubbish were removed from the highways and byways of the local area and taken to the Rubbish/ Recycling Centre in Manorhamilton. Thanks are due to Leitrim County Council for facilitating our endeavours to maintain the outstanding scenic beauty of our local area.

Unfortunately, within 24 hours of our completing the task, irresponsible/ anti- social elements had been out again and deposited more litter ( coffee cups and take away cartons), general household waste/ detritus ( including the contents of a cat litter tray) and even the dead carcasses of six lambs ( 5 in the woods along the Mountain Line and one on the Benbo/ Bohey Road).

The individuals who do such things should be ashamed of themselves. You know who you are; please stop what you are doing; be responsible and mindful of your neighbours. If you are identified, you will be named; you will be shamed; and you will be prosecuted.

25 CARD GAME

The Progressive 25 Card Game in Newtownmanor Hall continues on Fridays at 9 p. m., as usual. All card players are welcome and we look forward to new members coming along.

FLORAL PRIDE

Volunteers are required to assist with general ‘ gardening’ duties ( watering flower pots, etc), during the summer months. All expressions of interest to contact either Niamh at 087 2294500 or Philomena at 086 8252527.
